The Cat Owner's Problem Solver: How to Manage Common Behavior Problems by Thinking Like Your CatI bought "Good Kitty: The Problem Solver for Cat owners" by Margaret H. Bonham. This book is the same as the The Cat Owner's Problem Solver. The book addresses the female cat only. I can't compare anything written in this book with my two cats. I have a calico female and a DHS male cat. they have been with me for two years. Every day is different. Both of my cats love me but they act differently. The male shows affection and while female wants affection. The male wants to protect from other pets. My male cat wanted to fight a dog. I glad there was a fence. The female want affection sometimes. There are many differences between them. I don't get that from reading this book. I bought several books about cats none have helped. When you get a cat you don't know what you are getting. Be aware that they could cost a lot of money to have.

I bought this book to get more insight into cat behavior. I sometimes run into cats with problems during my volunteer time, and I wanted to find out how better to work with their issues. I also get a lot of questions from cat owners with problems, and I wanted to be able to give them better advice. This book was more than worth ten bucks. It covers a variety of issues, ranging from destructive scratching to litterbox avoidance to aggression to helping your pets get along with each other. The author explains the reason(s) for the problems and helps you figure out what specifically is causing your cat's issues. She then explains how you might address that specific cause. After buying this book, I found myself in need of a solution for my cat's sudden new biting habit. I consulted this book and was able to determine that her problem was overstimulation, and I followed the author's advice. It worked wonderfully."The Cat Owner's Problem Solver" is not a quick-fix book. Rather, it will help you learn how to understand your cat and permanently solve the problems that are getting in the way of your owner/pet relationship. It's also a great read if you simply want to understand cats better or are curious about pet psychology. It's not a deep or difficult read; it's short, to-the-point, and written at a reading level that's accessible to most cat owners from middle school through adulthood. This book has been so useful to me in my work with cats and cat owners, not to mention dealing with my own kitty, that I'm considering buying a second copy for the lobby/sitting area at my Humane Society chapter's office.

It came in a great condition even though I bought it used. Very helpful! My cat had some extreme separation and food anxiety because of her previous home (abandoned at the apartment by herself for three weeks when her old owner went to jail....social worker brought her into the shelter). Good suggestions! Also....watch My Cat from Hell because it helps for even minor anxieties or problems. Love that show!

I thought this book was very well written, with a ton of information not only about how and why cats behave the way they do, but also how to handle "bad" behavior and problems associated with your Cat. I am not really sure what the other poster was talking about the book being for "females only", that is absurd, the author tends to use "she" instead of "he" when referring to cats and kittens, but certainly the vast majority of the book relates to ANY sex of cat, male or female. At any rate, I liked the authors style and sense of humour, and the insight into feline behavior and behavior modification is very impressive. Much easier and more fun to read than other more clinical health guides and such. There is also many, many photos that are very entertaining and instructive. I would recommend this book to anyone who has a cat, female OR male.

Good book especially when I was searching for the answer to a cat spraying. The author listed a powerful product that WORKED, whereas EVERYTHING Else didn't. pg 93.Very good book.
