I read this and then got a book of Pasternak's poems. Gave me a sample of four beautiful Russian poets

  • By Rachel Blake on May 18, 2017

This is an excellent overview of four of Russia's most important poets. As always, I am most drawn to Anna Akhmatova and Marina Tsvetaeva's.

Excellent translation of these Russian poets' work. The music of the language and poetic images are magnificently preserved. Bravo Mr Kneller!

A great representative selection of the Russian Avant Garde---Cyrillic alongside the English. If you are interested in learning more about some of the Slavic world's greatest poets, "The Four of Us" is a solid introduction. The volume is slim and quite portable---fit's nicely in handbag or book bag.

Best poems were left behind... It is upsetting , as book did not demonstrated the beauty and power of best Russian poets.Remember - I am Russian and was raised on best books of World Classics .

Abysmal. I bought it as a present for my English speaking friend. As a native Russian speaker and a fluent English speaker I can compare side-by-side. There is no rhythm, character or melody preserved in any of the translations. There are much better ones on the market, this one goes straight to the recycle bin.

Wonderful book of Russian poetry from the early to mid twentieth century. Probably the four biggest names in Russian poetry.

This book is a plesant surprise! Very pleasant! Four poets I know so little about ( except Akhmatova).
