It is a long way from Theology to Application, and I've read many books that are heavy on Theology while skipping the application side, as well as several books that are great on application but provide little or no Theology behind the practice. This book marries the two concepts of Theology and Practice in a way I've rarely seen a book do, and with good reason: the author was forced to explore a Theology in light of experiential evidence. He was "filled with the spirit" and "spoke in tongues," both things he preached against, believed against, fought against, condemned as unbiblical--a true "Damascus Road" experience. With that said, this book, in attempting to balance Theology and at the same time be a layperson's book (originally written to help his congregation during their transition to a charismatic church), it tends to skip out on many of it's scripture citations on some of the more controversial stuff, like Tongues or Healings.All-in-all, it is a must read for the curious-but-cautious, the open-but-skeptic, or for the person trying to round out their understanding of the spiritual gifts--it gives enough information to drive a person to dig deeper without leaving a person feeling like they heard someone preach a comprehensive Theology that burdens the mind with too much information. On my top 5 charismatic-themed books, for sure.~Ryan

God used this book to change my life! I grew up as a pastor's kid in a Christian home and was saved at an early age. But it was after hitting rock bottom when I was 25 that I cried out to God to show me something real...that the Christianity I'd known my whole life was powerless and garbage. It was at this moment that God changed my life. I quickly was guided to the book by some friends and Pastor Robert does an incredible job explaining the Holy Spirit and His role in our lives and our role with His gifts. Incredible book. Simply incredible!

Robert Heidler presents the truth of the Word with authority born from his personal knowledge and experience with the Holy Spirit. He has a gentle, gracious, and humble approach to teaching all levels of intimacy with God the Spirit. The entire book is brimming with real examples from the Word and Heidler's life that make the reader yearn for a deeper and more effective walk to glorify the One True Father God, Son and Holy Spirit. Reading this book, praise God!, has already produced fruit in my life! May it bless and strengthen your spiritual walk, too.

This book is especially important for new believers, but also quiteinteresting for the seasoned and experienced follower of Yeshua.

Very helpful and easy to read, but rich in content and applicability.

the author shunned those 'charismatics', even after a charismatic friend would visit--out of the blue--whenever family members were sick, to pray for them--followed by quick recoveries.the author's approachable candor and wit make this book enjoyable amid the rich spiritual wisdom laid out for believers who hunger for a deeper relationship with Holy Spirit.

This is an easy, can't stop reading book that convicts you to apply the Word of God to your life.

I highly recommend reading this book if you have questions about the Holy Spirit. Pastor Heidler takes an objective look at Baptism of the Holy Spirit. His almost humorous recall of his innocence in understanding this experience makes this book so easy to receive. Don't miss the introduction! It lays the whole foundation for why he wrote the book in the first place. I buy this book by the boxful and use it to add to my own testimony of being filled with the spirit. It's easy to read and understand. It's one of the best I've ever read about the Holy Spirit. Once you start reading it, plan on staying up late!!
